For its latest campaign, the brand once again places Rosalía at the centre of the conversation, spotlighting the newest interpretation of the204L. The silhouette has quietly been building cult status among sneaker enthusiasts, and this campaign signals its next evolution. Captured through the lens of renowned visual artist and frequent New Balance collaborator Renell Medrano, the visuals position Rosalía exactly where she thrives, at the intersection of culture, creativity and fashion.
Rosalía first introduced the 204L when she joined New Balance as a Global Ambassador in 2025. Since then, the sneaker has become closely intertwined with her evolving style narrative. The latest iteration pushes that relationship further with design details that soften the shoe’s retro foundation. Scalloped accents and ribbon laces introduce a romantic touch, transforming the silhouette into something both nostalgic and expressive.
Finished in a Sea Salt and Linen colourway, the sneaker carries a quiet elegance while still feeling unmistakably modern. The understated palette mirrors Rosalía’s instinct for balancing refinement with bold expression, creating a design language that feels effortless yet intentional.
“What drew me to the 204L is its balance of legacy and progression,” said Rosalía. “It’s polished but disruptive. From the beginning, debuting the 204L alongside the announcement of my ambassadorship with New Balance felt like a natural extension of our shared vision.”
That sense of collaboration is exactly what the brand hopes to emphasise through this campaign. According to Chris Davis, Brand President and Chief Marketing Officer at New Balance, Rosalía’s influence has shaped far more than just a campaign image.
“Rosalia’s co-authored approach to our partnership helped shape the visual identity of the 204L into an icon. Her vision is bold, intentional, and unmistakably her own, which is what elevates this beyond a traditional campaign into something more artistic,” he said. “She reflects our enduring commitment to craft and innovation, while reinterpreting those values in a way that feels authentic and resonant for the next generation."
The 204L Takes Over Kuala Lumpur
The momentum does not stop at the campaign. In Malaysia, New Balance is bringing the 204L story to life with a dedicated pop up experience at Mid Valley Megamall.
Running from 5 to 15 March 2026, the space invites visitors to step directly into the world of the 204L. Multiple colourways of the silhouette are on display, giving sneaker lovers the chance to see the design up close while exploring the craftsmanship behind it.
One of the highlights is the Pocket Park Photobooth, a playful installation inspired by nature. Visitors can capture their own 204L moment in a softly styled environment, complete with printed and digital photos. Guests who register receive a flower before stepping into the booth and can also personalise an acrylic keychain to take home.
Those picking up a pair of the 204L will receive an extra treat. With every purchase, customers can redeem a limited edition Dumpling Bag that can be customised with exclusive patches. The full patch set is available at the Mid Valley pop up, while other participating stores offer smaller patch packs.
The 204L Pop Up is now open at the Ground South Area of Mid Valley Megamall, directly in front of Sephora, until 15 March. The sneaker is also available nationwide at New Balance stores and online, retailing at RM499.
