Cosentino and Red Hong Yi Unveil EARTHIC® by Silestone®XM

Sustainability meets cutting-edge design as Cosentino proves its innovative prowess. Teaming up with Malaysia’s own artistic marvel, Red Hong Yi, they’ve unveiled the revolutionary EARTHIC® by Silestone®XM collection. This isn’t just a surface; it’s a statement.

The Totem Shelf: A Fusion of Art and Sustainability

The Totem Shelf, meticulously crafted by Red Hong Yi, is a testament to creative reuse. Made from the RAW G series of EARTHIC® by Silestone®XM, this piece embodies the future of sustainable design. Incorporating recycled materials from Cosentino’s past collections and locally sourced elements, it’s a masterclass in upcycling. Think wooden planks from a demolished house in Penang and enamel bowls from local ‘kopitiams’. It’s not just a shelf; it’s a narrative of history and innovation.

A Partnership Forged in Eco-Friendly Ambition

Iván Capelo, General Manager of Cosentino Malaysia, couldn’t be more thrilled. “The EARTHIC® by Silestone®XM collection represents Cosentino’s commitment to sustainability. We are grateful to collaborate locally with Red Hong Yi in Malaysia, who shares our values. Her vision as an architectural artist and her creative ability to transform recyclable materials into art is an inspiration, and we are excited to collaborate with her for EARTHIC®,” he states. And he’s right. Red Hong Yi’s work is an inspiration, blending artistry with a deep respect for the environment.

From Shanghai to Bali: A Journey of Inspiration

Red Hong Yi’s journey to this point is as eclectic as her art. Her fascination with recyclable materials began in Shanghai, where she repurposed leftover materials in her architectural projects. A recent trip to Bali, where she encountered innovative uses of upcycled materials, further fueled her creative process. “For this collaboration with Cosentino, I drew inspiration from a recent trip to Bali, where I saw innovative uses of upcycled and recycled materials in various hotels. This experience significantly influenced my design approach,” she shares.

The EARTHIC® by Silestone®XM Collection

This collection is a game-changer. Developed in collaboration with the renowned Formafantasma studio, EARTHIC® by Silestone®XM transforms recycled materials into stunning surfaces. With a crystalline silica content of just 10% and up to 30% recycled materials, including glass, PET, bio-resin, and Dekton® fragments, it’s a leap forward in sustainable design.

The collection features two distinct series. The FFROM X FORMAFANTASMA series, with FFROM 1, FFROM 2, and FFROM 3, highlights the journey from raw materials to finished product. The RAW X COSENTINO STUDIO series, featuring RAW A, RAW G, and RAW D, celebrates the raw beauty of the materials in their most authentic form.
