Seamless, Subtle Skincare: Dododots Launches The World’s First Concealer Pimple Patches
In today’s fast-paced beauty world, skincare has become both intricate and incredibly profitable, with the Malaysian skincare market alone projected to rake in a whopping US$888.20 million in 2024. From luxury face masks to full-coverage foundations and potent vitamin C serums, the quest for clear, flawless skin seems to have endless options.
Enter Dododots, a trailblasing Malaysian beauty brand that's shaking things up. The brand's co-founders are on a mission to simplify and elevate acne care with their groundbreaking product line: Dodoskin — the world’s first concealer pimple patches. Launching in five delectable shades that cater to a diverse array of skin tones, these patches promise to revolutionise your skincare routine. With names like Bagel, Peach, Pancake, Chestnut, and Espresso, Dododots maintains its playful, food-themed brand identity while tackling acne in a fun yet effective way.
“As a teenager, I struggled a lot not just with the obvious physical appearance of severe acne, but also the psychological and mental impact,” says Esther Erin, co-founder of Dododots. “Existing acne solutions were either medical products, with acne returning the moment you stopped using them, or far too obvious – topical creams and transparent hydrocolloid stickers – or makeup products only designed to address coverage instead of actually treating the pimple itself. I couldn’t help but wonder: why do we have concealer and pimple patches, but not anything that combined the two concepts into one?”
This innovative idea sprouted during the pandemic in 2020, but it took some time to come to fruition. Fans of Dododots might find this surprising, considering the brand's initial launch in 2021 featured quirky, vibrant acne patches designed to stand out and make a statement. So why the shift from bold to subtle?

— Dodoskin concealer pimple patches for every skin tone!
“At the beginning of the Dododots journey, our initial RM15,000 budget was rejected by suppliers, who needed a minimum commitment of 10,000 packs of patches for each colour,” shares Ethan Wong, co-founder of Dododots. “Since we wanted to provide multiple shades to suit a variety of skin tones, this simply wasn’t a fiscal commitment feasible for a company in its very early stages. However, we’re so proud of how far we’ve come over the years, and we’re now in a position to finally release the concealer pimple patch concept that got us excited to start the company in the first place!”
With the debut of Dodoskin concealer patches, Dododots aims to give acne fighters worldwide a pimple patch that not only blends seamlessly with their skin but also tackles the root of the problem with the natural antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory powers of tea tree oil. Now, users have the option to either flaunt their patches or keep things under wraps — and with plans to expand the shade range, there's a beauty patch for every occasion.
