Breast Care Is Self-Care: Estée Lauder Companies Malaysia Turns Awareness Into Action
From community fundraising to breast health education, Estée Lauder Companies Malaysia is bringing its long-standing mission to help end breast cancer closer to home this October.
Self-care is more than a skincare routine, a little retail therapy or finally getting around to that much-needed day off. Sometimes, it means making time for the health checks we tend to put off. This October, The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) Malaysia is reminding Malaysians that looking after ourselves starts with paying attention to our health, with the return of its annual Breast Cancer Campaign under the message Breast Care is Self-Care.
Building on more than three decades of global advocacy, the 2026 campaign focuses on making breast health a more natural part of everyday wellness. Through education, community initiatives and fundraising, ELC Malaysia hopes to encourage more people to take proactive steps towards early detection while supporting three local organisations: the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM), Cancer Research Malaysia (CRMY) and the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA).
Because awareness matters, but what we do with it matters even more.
More Than Three Decades of Pink Ribbon Advocacy
The story behind the campaign began in 1992, when Evelyn H. Lauder co-created the Pink Ribbon and founded The Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Campaign. Her vision helped bring breast cancer into public conversation, championing awareness, education and research at a time when discussing the disease was far less commonplace.
More than 30 years later, that mission continues to grow.
Together, The Estée Lauder Companies and The Estée Lauder Companies Charitable Foundation have committed more than US$182 million to breast cancer initiatives worldwide. Of that amount, more than US$146 million has supported groundbreaking research through the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), the campaign's leading partner.
Today, the campaign supports more than 50 organisations globally, continuing its work across scientific research, breast health education and access to services. It also brings employees, consumers, partners and communities together around a shared goal: helping make Evelyn Lauder's vision of a world without breast cancer a reality.
For ELC, beauty can be more than what happens in front of the mirror. It can also be a platform for meaningful change.
Breast Health Deserves a Place in Your Self-Care Routine
Breast cancer remains the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women globally, despite advances in prevention, detection and treatment. While awareness campaigns have helped bring the conversation forward, ELC's message for 2026 is about taking that conversation a step further.
Knowing the importance of breast health is one thing. Making time to act on that knowledge is another.
This year's Breast Care is Self-Care message encourages women to understand their individual risk factors, stay informed about recommended screenings and feel more comfortable discussing changes in their breast health with healthcare professionals. By making these conversations less intimidating and more commonplace, the campaign hopes to empower women to take a more active role in their own well-being and encourage loved ones to do the same.
No complicated wellness overhaul is required to get started. Sometimes, it begins with understanding your health history, knowing what is normal for your body and booking a screening when appropriate.
Lace Up for a Cause: Pink Charity Run 2026
<escape>October's</escape> call to action will take to the outdoors with the Pink Charity Run 2026, organised in partnership with JomRun on 18 October 2026 at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa.
Open to participants who prefer to run, jog or walk, the event invites Malaysians to show their support for breast cancer awareness while contributing to a cause that affects individuals, families and communities. Employees, consumers, families, friends and the wider public are all encouraged to take part, turning a shared commitment into a collective effort.
All ticket proceeds will be donated to the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM), helping support individuals and families affected by cancer.
Whether you're chasing a personal best or simply showing up for a meaningful morning out, the point is the same: every step is an opportunity to stand behind the cause.
Shop Pink, Support the Cause
For those who prefer to show their support through their beauty routine, ELC Malaysia is also putting a familiar skincare favourite in the spotlight.
Throughout the campaign, Malaysians can visit Estée Lauder stores nationwide to purchase the Pink Ribbon Advanced Night Repair Serum in the 50ml size. In support of the Breast Cancer Campaign, 100% of the proceeds from each purchase will be donated to Cancer Research Malaysia (CRMY) and the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA).
The initiative gives consumers another way to contribute to local breast cancer support and research efforts while participating in a campaign that extends beyond the beauty counter.
Meanwhile, ELC Malaysia will collaborate with local content creators, advocates and community partners throughout October to spread breast health awareness and encourage more Malaysians to understand the importance of early detection and screening.
Five Ways to Make Breast Care Part of Your Routine
Taking a more proactive approach to breast health doesn't have to feel overwhelming. According to guidance provided by the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, there are several practical habits worth incorporating into your wellness routine.
1. Get familiar with your risk factors. Speak with a healthcare provider about your personal and family health history to better understand factors that may influence your breast cancer risk.
2. Know what's normal for you. Become familiar with how your breasts usually look and feel. If you notice any changes, report them to a healthcare provider promptly.
3. Keep up with recommended screenings. Follow mammogram and screening recommendations based on your age, individual risk factors and healthcare provider's advice.
4. Give your everyday habits some attention. Regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy weight, limiting alcohol consumption and avoiding smoking can contribute to lowering breast cancer risk.
5. Keep the conversation going. Talk to friends and loved ones about breast health. Normalising conversations around early detection and prevention can help more people feel comfortable seeking information and care.
These habits are not a guarantee against breast cancer, but they can help support a more informed and proactive approach to long-term health. Screening recommendations should always be tailored to individual circumstances, and any concerning breast changes warrant medical attention.
The Work Continues
Breast cancer awareness shouldn't be confined to one month on the calendar, nor should conversations about our health be saved for when something feels wrong. ELC's 2026 campaign is a reminder that small, consistent actions can help build a culture in which breast health is taken seriously, information is shared openly and support is easier to find.
From the Pink Charity Run to fundraising through the Pink Ribbon Advanced Night Repair Serum, the campaign brings together different ways for Malaysians to get involved, whether by participating, contributing or simply starting a conversation.
As long as breast cancer remains a life-threatening disease, The Estée Lauder Companies says its commitment to helping end it will remain unwavering.
This October, make room for a different kind of self-care. Know your body, stay informed and encourage the people around you to do the same.
