Navajo Tradition Meets Skateboard Chic in Ralph Lauren x Naiomi Glasses' Colour Riot Drop
Ralph Lauren has once again set the fashion world ablaze with the release of the second drop of the Polo Ralph Lauren x Naiomi Glasses Collection – Color in Motion. This collaboration, born from the Company’s inaugural Artist in Residence program, pays homage to timeless Navajo traditions through the visionary lens of seventh-generation Navajo weaver, Naiomi Glasses.
Color in Motion encapsulates the vibrant evolution of Glasses’ weaving journey. It's a tale of bold colour palettes and contemporary interpretations of traditional Navajo motifs. Think dynamic, sporty, and joyfully vibrant – a collection that mirrors Naiomi’s passion for skateboarding while celebrating her mastery of the craft.
The assortment boasts 24 pieces of men’s, women’s, and unisex apparel and accessories, each infused with traditional Navajo elements reimagined through Glasses’ artistic interpretation. From four-directional crosses to wedge weave motifs, the collection bursts with hues of turquoise, orange, yellow, and red, evoking a sense of movement and energy.
Standout pieces include a stunning blanket, a sophisticated wool coat, and skate-inspired accessories like the functional waistpack – all reflecting Naiomi’s unique blend of tradition and contemporary flair.
But the collaboration goes beyond fashion. Glasses, a devoted collector of turquoise and silver, has handpicked a selection of exquisite jewellery from artisan families across Navajo Nation and beyond. This curated selection, showcased throughout the campaign, is not just an accessory but a testament to heritage and craftsmanship.
Photographed by Ryan RedCorn and Darren Sells, and directed by Shaandiin Tome, the campaign captures the essence of Color in Motion. It's a vibrant portrayal of Glasses, her community, and her love for skateboarding – a passion that has been her sanctuary since childhood.
Naiomi’s journey hasn’t been without hurdles. Born with a cleft palate, she found solace and strength on the skateboard. Through the support of the Phoenix Children’s Foundation, she underwent life-changing surgery. Now, a percentage of the sales from drop two of the collection will give back to the foundation, supporting Native American families in need.
Ralph Lauren’s commitment to collaboration and community shines through this partnership. By shifting from mere inspiration to true collaboration, the Artist in Residence program is paving the way for meaningful connections with artisans and heritage traditions.
Color in Motion is available today on RalphLauren.com, the Ralph Lauren App, Tmall, and select global stores. But hurry, these pieces are as limited as they are breathtaking. Don’t miss your chance to own a piece of fashion history while supporting a cause close to Naiomi Glasses’ heart.
