Mercedes-Benz EQV 300: The Silent Revolution Rolls In

The world doesn’t need another electric car. What it needs is a redefinition of what electric luxury can—and should—look like. Enter the Mercedes-Benz EQV 300, the all-electric multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) that doesn’t just plug in and go—it turns heads, rethinks comfort, and recalibrates expectations of what “premium” actually means in a post-petrol age.

In an exclusive media showcase held on 2 July 2025, Hap Seng Trucks Distribution (HSTD), the authorised distributor of Mercedes-Benz Vans in Malaysia, pulled the covers off the EQV 300. This marked its first official reveal under HSTD’s stewardship. And no, this wasn’t just another launch with the usual polite clapping and velvet ropes—it was a declaration of intent. A statement. That the future of luxury mobility is not just electric—it’s intelligent, elegant, and unapologetically forward-thinking.

First Look: The Outside Game

From the outside, the EQV 300 looks less like a people mover and more like a spaceship that happens to have wheels. The AVANTGARDE specification takes everything you think you know about MPVs and gives it a sharp, metallic polish. The front fascia features adaptive MULTIBEAM LED headlights that don’t just light up the road—they make an entrance. A chrome trim adorned with Mercedes-Benz lettering across the rear serves as a bold signature, while new 17-inch alloy wheels complete the visual flex. It’s executive, but not in the boring way. It’s sleek without being sterile.

There’s a refined power in how it carries itself—serious enough for corporate transfers, yet stylish enough to be your go-to family cruiser. And with the expanded paint selections, you don’t have to settle for the typical grayscale palette. It’s all about options, and more importantly, the freedom to choose luxury that aligns with your own taste.

Inside the Lounge: More Than a Cabin

Step inside the EQV 300 and you’re not in a vehicle—you’re in a lounge that just happens to move. Mercedes-Benz didn’t just throw in a few high-end features and call it a day. They went full sensory experience. Dual 12.3-inch widescreens stretch across the dashboard like something lifted from a sci-fi control panel. The redesigned air vents, capacitive-touch steering controls, and ambient lighting (yes, you get 64 colours to set your mood) add to the atmosphere. Whether it’s a work commute or a weekend escape, you’re travelling in a tech cocoon.

And let’s talk sound—because silence isn’t the only thing this EV does well. The Burmester® surround sound system is a sonic masterpiece in itself. With 15 strategically placed loudspeakers and a bass reflex box pushing out 640W of crisp, immersive audio, the EQV turns even the school run into a concert-grade experience. Every seat is the best seat in the house, thanks to the multichannel surround sound setup.

Wrapped in Lugano leather and outfitted with power sliding doors on both sides, the interior design balances style with function. There’s a sense of calm here—everything from the texture of the materials to the tactile feedback of controls is tuned to please. No gimmicks. Just thoughtful, considered luxury.

A New Kind of Power

Of course, a luxury EV needs to back it all up with performance—and the EQV 300 delivers. Powered by a front-mounted electric motor producing 150 kW (204 PS) and 365 Nm of torque, this isn’t just about smooth sailing. It’s quick off the line, with a top speed of 160 km/h, and handles with the kind of composure you'd expect from a brand that doesn’t do compromise.

At the core of it all is a 90 kWh usable lithium-ion battery that offers a solid electric range of up to 418 km (NEDC). In real-world terms? That’s a week’s worth of urban driving without a single trip to the charger. And when you do need to juice up, the EQV makes it painless—offering AC charging up to 11 kW and DC fast-charging up to 110 kW, which can take you from 10% to 80% in roughly 40 minutes. Just enough time to grab a coffee, answer some emails, and head back on the road.

And yes, you can tailor the drive to your vibe. With four driving modes—Comfort, Sport, Eco, and Maximum Range (ECO+)—you can adjust your experience on the fly. Whether you're cruising through city streets or stretching your range on a weekend getaway, the EQV keeps things versatile.

Safety That Thinks Ahead

In the world of Mercedes-Benz, safety is never an afterthought—it’s the blueprint. The EQV 300 comes fully loaded with the brand’s most advanced driver assistance systems, turning everyday drives into well-supported journeys. Think Active Brake Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC. It’s like having a co-pilot who never blinks.

You also get ATTENTION Assist, which monitors drowsiness levels, and a Parking Package that includes a 360° camera and Active Parking Assist, making even the tightest spots feel effortless. And when it comes to airbags, the EQV doesn’t skimp—driver and passenger units, thorax-pelvis, centre, and curtain airbags are all part of the safety net.

This isn’t just safety for the sake of checking boxes—it’s a full-scale system designed to keep you and your passengers protected, informed, and in control.

A Luxury Brand with a Sustainable Backbone

The EQV 300 isn’t just a pretty face with a high-voltage heart—it’s a player in a much bigger game. One aligned with Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and Mercedes-Benz’s global mission to shape a cleaner, more responsible future for the automotive industry.

“Today’s reveal of the Mercedes-Benz EQV 300 represents a meaningful evolution in how we define luxury, performance, and sustainability,” said Derrick Sim, CEO of Hap Seng Trucks Distribution. “With its enhanced digital experience, redesigned styling, and commitment to sustainability, the new EQV is a statement of our direction and an invitation to drive forward with purpose.”

That “purpose” is being put into action. Beyond performance and aesthetics, Mercedes-Benz is making it easier for Malaysians to embrace this electric chapter. Early adopters are being rewarded with a launch offer that includes a complimentary Mercedes-Benz Wallbox charger, three years of free scheduled maintenance, and a RM10,000 booking rebate. On top of that, the vehicle is supported by a two-year warranty (or 200,000 km, whichever comes first), and the battery is covered for eight years or up to 160,000 km.

Come See It For Yourself

Curious? You should be. And if you’re ready to get up close and personal with the EQV 300, Hap Seng Trucks Distribution is making that easy, too. From 21 to 27 July 2025, the vehicle will be showcased at Bangsar Shopping Centre (BSC) as part of a pop-up roadshow. Open daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, the showcase invites visitors to explore the EQV 300 in person, chat with product experts, and see exactly how this electric powerhouse fits into their lifestyle.

With an indicative price starting at RM450,000 (on-the-road, without insurance), the EQV 300 isn’t pretending to be cheap—but then again, luxury rarely is. What it is, though, is worth it. Because in a world where so much of what we drive is driven by compromise, the EQV 300 proves that you can still have it all—performance, comfort, intelligence, and conscience—in one sharply styled package.

So here it is. The Mercedes-Benz EQV 300. It’s not the future. It’s the now—quiet, bold, and fully charged.
