FUGAZZI's Newest Scent Comes with a Cocktail Pairing, and It's Worth Ordering Both
Some fragrances are made to be worn. Others are made to be experienced.
With the Malaysian debut of Pomegranoudh, Amsterdam-based niche fragrance house FUGAZZI is doing both. Launched exclusively through TROVE, the brand's latest creation arrives with an unexpected companion: a limited-edition cocktail menu at Kuala Lumpur's Lavantha KL that turns scent into something you can actually sip.
It's a fitting introduction for a fragrance built on contrast. Bright yet dark. Fresh yet smoky. Loud enough to get noticed, but never trying too hard.
Pomegranate Meets Oudh, Without Playing by the Rules
Pomegranoudh takes two familiar perfumery ingredients and gives them a modern rewrite. Juicy pomegranate cuts through the richness of oudh, creating a composition that feels equally at home during a sunny brunch or long after midnight.
The fragrance opens with pomegranate, bergamot and red fruits before revealing a heart of oudh wood and patchouli. As it settles, vanilla, amber dry and musk create a warm finish that stays close to the skin long after the first spray.
Founder and perfumer Bram Niessink describes the scent as "where control and impulse meet," capturing the shift from the energy of the night into the calm of morning. It's a fragrance designed to move with you rather than define you.
Pomegranoudh is now available exclusively at TROVE boutiques at The Starhill, Pavilion Damansara Heights and The Exchange TRX, as well as online. It retails at RM180 (10ml), RM780 (50ml) and RM1,080 (100ml).
When Perfume Becomes a Drink
Instead of hosting another predictable fragrance launch, TROVE partnered with cocktail destination Lavantha KL and acclaimed bartender Jon Lee to blur the line between perfumery and mixology.
Running until 18 July 2026, the collaboration introduces ONGRIJPBAAR, the Dutch word for "incomprehensible." The menu transforms the fragrance's scent profile into four drinks, each inspired by a different stage of Pomegranoudh's evolution.
Vluchtig (RM60) captures the sparkling opening with gin, raspberry, coconut water and pomme.
Wending (RM65) moves into the fragrance's heart through vodka, peach, Palo Cortado sherry and Borneo vanilla.
Afdronk (RM75) mirrors the warm dry down with dark rum, toasted coconut, fortified wine and tonka bean.
For those skipping the alcohol, De Geest (RM38) delivers a refreshing blend of pomegranate, verjuice, rue berry, rhubarb and soda, echoing the fragrance's bright introduction.
If choosing just one sounds impossible, there's also a three-cocktail tasting experience priced at RM190++.
Every guest who orders a drink from the ONGRIJPBAAR menu will also receive a complimentary FUGAZZI Pomegranoudh fragrance vial while stocks last, making it one of the few collaborations where the souvenir smells as good as the experience itself.
A Launch That Felt More Like a Night Out
The collaboration officially debuted at an intimate gathering hosted by TROVE, bringing together members of the media, celebrities and key opinion leaders for an early look at both the fragrance and its cocktail counterpart.
Guests were introduced to the creative story behind Pomegranoudh before bartender Jon Lee walked them through each bespoke cocktail, explaining how every ingredient reflects a different chapter of the fragrance's olfactory journey.
The evening continued with a DJ set by Ashley Lau and appearances from familiar faces including Jane Lau, Han Pin Ma, Angel Chai of DOLLA, Sam Wong and Gaston Pong.
Rather than treating fragrance as something confined to a bottle, the night celebrated it as an experience that could be worn, tasted and shared. And in a market where fragrance launches often follow the same script, FUGAZZI proved that sometimes the most memorable scent begins with a drink.
