Christian Louboutin x Otis Carey: A Collision of Waves, Colour, and Culture
When Christian Louboutin sets out to make a statement, it’s rarely whispered—and the Fall/Winter 2025 collection is turning the volume all the way up. This season, the iconic maison taps into a whole new creative wavelength, teaming up with Australian artist and professional surfer Otis Carey for a collection that doesn’t just walk—it moves with purpose.
Carey, a Gumbaynggirr/Bundjalung man, is known for fusing his Indigenous heritage with his passion for the ocean, creating artworks that pulse with energy and meaning. His swirling visual language, built from deconstructed traditional symbols and fluid motion, now takes shape in a new medium: Louboutin’s Toile Enduite Gaagal. This exclusive print captures Carey’s love for the sea in a hypnotic, layered motif that rolls through the collection like a tide.
In the women’s line-up, the Miss Z Otis Carey designs are where things get bold, loud, and impossibly chic. Carey’s print transforms classic silhouettes into pieces of wearable art, each one a head-turner. He also brings his vision to a series of bags, with the Eloise style reworked in Toile Enduite Gaagal. Each bag appears as though it’s been hand-printed, then coated in a subtle water-repellent gloss—just enough to suggest a high-fashion rain-slick, minus the actual weather.
For the men, Louboutin steps into quieter—but no less daring—territory. The Moc College Gaagal fuses hand-dyed, laser-cut calf leather into a woven pattern that nods to Carey’s signature wave imagery. It’s all stitched onto chunky soles that ground the look with a kind of refined rebellion. Meanwhile, the classic Louis sneaker gets its own makeover with the Toile Enduite Gaagal print, creating a finish that blurs the line between footwear and fine art. It looks painted. It feels painted. It just happens to be built to move.
This collection isn’t about playing it safe. It’s about culture, movement, and colour in conversation. It’s about two creatives—Louboutin and Carey—meeting in the swell and making something unforgettable.
