Interview With Atiqa Dar
How did it feel to walk the runway for L'Oréal Paris at KL Fashion Week 2024?
It was exhilarating, I’ve never walked a runway before and honestly I'm not very good at walking in heels! It was such an honour to be a part of that.
What does the ‘Walk Your Worth’ event mean to you personally, especially as a beauty influencer?
It was a pivotal moment to me as a beauty creator to be recognised for who I am and what I stand for by a distinguished brand like L'oreal Paris - that being true to myself led me here.
L'Oréal Paris has a legendary tagline, “Because You’re Worth It.” How do you incorporate this message into your content and personal brand?
I incorporate this by encouraging my followers and viewers to be true to themselves by being true to myself in the content I make and in what I say. That you don't have to be perfect all the time, everyone should embrace their differences.
As a prominent beauty influencer, how important do you think events like KL Fashion Week are for promoting self-care and personal style?
I liked that KL Fashion Week and fashion weeks alike recognise independent and local fashion designers, models and key opinion leaders in the beauty and fashion scene. It is a way for all of us to come together, create and inspire.
Can you share any memorable moments or experiences from the L'Oréal Paris show at KL Fashion Week 2024?
A memorable moment for me was behind the scenes, practising my walk with the other girls, getting to know one another and helping each other get dressed.
How do you balance the demands of being a content creator with maintaining your own self-care and personal style?
It is tough to be separated from my phone because of this job and sometimes I feel like I get taken away from reality with my eyes glued to a screen, but I try to find space out of this by spending time with my friends and loved ones and they inspire me to be who I am and express myself be it in the way I dress or do my makeup!
What role do you think social media plays in shaping the beauty standards and self-worth of young women today?
Social media creates a narrative be it positive, negative or neutral in how women are portrayed in society, it really depends on what kind of media you consume and what message it portrays. I do think it holds a powerful tool in shaping how women see ourselves and how others view us.
What message would you like to convey to your followers about self-care and embracing their unique personal style and beauty?
Don't compare yourself to others, find your own voice, people that uplift you and something you're passionate about, and put your heart and soul into it.
How do you stay authentic and true to yourself in an industry that often emphasises perfection?
I’ve never photoshopped my body or my face when I post pictures online, I want to showcase the real me offline and online. Even as a video creator, I dont put on face altering filters. I think it's important to reject unrealistic beauty standards online.
What are some upcoming projects or goals you’re excited about following your experience at KL Fashion Week 2024?
Love this question but you gotta stay tuned to find out ;)
