How did it feel to walk the runway for L'Oréal Paris at KL Fashion Week 2024?

Walking the runway for L'Oréal Paris at KL Fashion Week 2024 was an exhilarating experience. As a brand that has always championed self-worth and empowerment, it was truly an honour to be part of such a significant event. It felt surreal to be representing not just Wanderlust + Co, but also the powerful message of "Walk Your Worth." Being on that stage was a reminder of how far we’ve come in encouraging women to embrace their worth.

As the founder of Wanderlust + Co, how do you balance your entrepreneurial responsibilities with such high-profile events?

Balancing my responsibilities as an entrepreneur with high-profile events is a challenge, but it's all about planning and having a great team. At Wanderlust + Co, we emphasise collaboration, which allows me to focus on events like these while knowing that the business is in good hands. It’s also about staying grounded and remembering that these events are an extension of our brand’s mission to inspire and empower women globally.

What does the ‘Walk Your Worth’ event mean to you, and how does it align with your personal and professional values?

The ‘Walk Your Worth’ event is incredibly meaningful to me. It aligns perfectly with the values I hold dear, both personally and professionally. At Wanderlust + Co, we’ve always believed in the power of self-expression and the importance of self-worth. This event is a celebration of those values, reminding women everywhere that their worth isn’t dictated by others, but by how they view themselves.

L'Oréal Paris’s tagline, “Because You’re Worth It,” has been empowering women for decades. How does this resonate with your mission at Wanderlust + Co?

The tagline "Because You’re Worth It" resonates deeply with our mission at Wanderlust + Co. Our brand is built on the belief that jewellery and accessories are more than just fashion—they are a way for women to express their individuality and worth. This shared focus on empowering women and celebrating their unique qualities is what makes our collaboration with L'Oréal Paris so special.

You’re known for your philanthropic work, especially with Women for Women International and Project Happy Bags. How do these initiatives contribute to your sense of worth and purpose?

Philanthropy is a cornerstone of my work and personal life. Initiatives like Women for Women International and Project Happy Bags give me a profound sense of purpose. They remind me that while running a business is important, giving back and supporting others is equally vital. These projects allow me to use my platform to make a tangible difference, reinforcing my belief that true worth comes from how we uplift and empower others.

Can you share any memorable experiences or highlights from your time backstage at the L'Oréal Paris show?

One of the most memorable experiences backstage was the incredible camaraderie among the women. There was a strong sense of unity and empowerment, which was truly inspiring. Seeing everyone come together with a shared goal of celebrating self-worth was a highlight. It was also amazing to witness the behind-the-scenes magic—the attention to detail and the passion of everyone involved.

How has your journey as an independent entrepreneur shaped your perspective on female empowerment and leadership?

My journey as an independent entrepreneur has deeply influenced my perspective on female empowerment and leadership. It’s taught me the importance of resilience, authenticity, and supporting other women. Leadership, to me, is about lifting others up and creating opportunities for growth and collaboration. It’s about paving the way for the next generation of female entrepreneurs and showing them that they can achieve their dreams with hard work and dedication.

What advice would you give to aspiring female entrepreneurs who look up to you and your achievements?

My advice to aspiring female entrepreneurs would be to stay true to your vision and never lose sight of your values. The journey isn’t always easy, but it’s important to stay resilient and learn from every experience. Surround yourself with a strong support system, and don’t be afraid to take risks. Most importantly, believe in your worth and know that you have the power to create something truly impactful.

How important is it for the fashion and beauty industry to promote diversity and inclusivity, and how does Wanderlust + Co contribute to this movement?

Diversity and inclusivity are crucial in the fashion and beauty industry. These industries have the power to shape perceptions and influence cultural norms, so it’s essential that they reflect the diversity of the world we live in. At Wanderlust + Co, we are committed to celebrating individuality and creating pieces that resonate with a diverse audience. Our goal is to ensure that everyone feels represented and valued in our community.
