Wrist Deep in Durian: Revelot Goes There
Durian season has a new fashion statement. And no, it’s not a designer tote bag to carry the fruit — it’s a watch. A very bold one. Revelot, the Malaysian watchmaker known for punching above its weight, just launched the Limited Edition Hexmariner Durian Watch, and it’s as divisive as the fruit that inspired it. Which, frankly, is the point.
This isn’t a subtle nod to local culture. It’s a full-throttle, unapologetic love letter to the King of Fruits — with spikes, flesh, and all. For every person who’s gagged at the smell of durian, there’s someone else who dreams of its creamy gold interior. Revelot taps into that national obsession and throws it on your wrist, with just enough sophistication to pull it off and just enough irreverence to make people look twice.
Thorny, Tasty, and Totally Watchable
Revelot’s Hexmariner isn’t playing coy. The watch face comes alive in rich green and yellow tones, an obvious reference to the fruit’s iconic look. A geometric-textured dial mimics the spiky exterior of a durian, while the hexagonal yellow indices recall its fleshy insides — a bold choice that toes the line between design flair and inside joke.
Around the dial, the chapter ring reads “KING OF FRUITS,” a cheeky wink for those who get the reference. A matching durian-green ceramic bezel with yellow lumed markers adds another layer of drama. And then there’s the crown jewel of the whole piece: a tiny, lumed durian on the second hand — yes, seriously — making each tick a moment of tropical defiance.
An Edible Muse, Served on the Rocks
To bring this bold concept to life, Revelot tapped Malaysian model and actress Nia Atasha for the campaign — and she more than delivers. Known for her razor-sharp style and cultural edge, Nia is styled in a neon Syomirizwa Gupta gown and set against a lavish fine-dining backdrop. But here’s the twist: she’s eating durian. With couture-worthy poise.
It’s luxe-meets-ludicrous, and it works. The campaign doesn’t just show off the watch; it frames the durian experience as something elegant, cinematic, and just a little tongue-in-cheek. Gupta’s signature use of colour and storytelling gives the campaign its pulse, while Nia’s presence brings the heat.
Not a Gimmick. A Statement.
Let’s get one thing straight: this isn’t a gimmicky tourist souvenir dressed up as a timepiece. The Hexmariner Durian Watch has real watch-nerd cred. With a 316L stainless steel case, NH35 Japan automatic movement, 200M water resistance, and Swiss Super-Luminova C3 lume with yellow pigment, it’s as serious under the hood as it is wild on the surface.
At 39mm with a 13mm thickness, sapphire crystal, and an optional glide-lock bracelet upgrade, it’s built to last — and meant to be worn, not just collected. But make no mistake, it will turn heads. And probably start a few conversations.
Limited Run, Unlimited Attitude
The Hexmariner Durian drops 18 July 2025 with an early bird price of RM1,388 (regular retail at RM1,688). Quantities are limited, and once it’s gone, it’s gone — no restocks, no second chances. It’ll be available on Revelot.com and select Timekeeper stores.
Revelot didn’t just create a watch — they sparked a cultural moment. The Hexmariner Durian is a celebration of Malaysian identity, complete with bite, humour, and some serious horological chops. It’s not for everyone. But then again, neither is durian.
