Cloud Walking Just Got Real: Sunday Staples Lands in KL
Kuala Lumpur, meet your new weekend obsession. Singapore’s cult-favorite comfort footwear label, Sunday Staples, has finally crossed the Causeway, opening its very first Malaysian store at Pavilion Bukit Jalil on 17 September 2025. And let’s just say, your shoe rack will never be the same.
What began as Cherriann Wong’s small home project has turned into one of Singapore’s fastest-growing footwear stories—over 200,000 pairs sold in just five years, with four brick-and-mortar stores back home. Now, the brand is betting big on Malaysia, bringing its philosophy of comfort-first design with a feminine edge right to your doorstep.
At the heart of Sunday Staples is its signature Cloud Series—think plush, bouncy padding wrapped in slim, elegant silhouettes that don’t scream “orthopedic,” but still let you run a marathon of errands without hating yourself at the end of the day.
“We identified a real gap in the Malaysian market for shoes that deliver both style and comfort,” says founder Cherriann Wong. “Our Malaysian customers have been admiring our Cloud Series comfort from across the Causeway, and we’re excited to finally let them experience it firsthand.”
This isn’t just another pop-up or an online drop. Sunday Staples has built a loyal Malaysian fan base digitally, but as Cherri points out, there’s no substitute for slipping into a pair IRL. “We’ve always seen a strong connection with our Malaysian customers through our online presence, but we believe there’s nothing that beats trying our shoes in person. Opening a store in Kuala Lumpur allows us to offer a more personal shopping experience, encountering our products closeup and trying their proven qualities,” she adds.
And here’s where it gets really clever: Sunday Staples isn’t just shipping stock over from Singapore. The brand has tailored its designs for Malaysia’s climate and lifestyle. Think Microfibre Leather, a vegan alternative that’s more durable than the real thing; plus weather-proof fabrics like Waterproof Linen, Satin, and Suede that won’t wilt in the humidity. Add in thoughtful touches for Asian feet—soft leather straps, heel padding in ballet flats, Flyknit uppers, and low-to-block heel options—and you’ve got shoes built to keep up with KL’s non-stop energy.
“We’re not just opening a store – we’re bringing a solution to Malaysian women who are tired of choosing between comfort and style,” Cherriann explains. “Every pair is designed to handle Malaysia’s climate and long days, whether you’re in back-to-back meetings or exploring the city. The Sunday Staples family looks forward to building a lasting relationship with our Malaysian consumers, aspiring to be their ideal everyday footwear solution.”
So whether you’re a nine-to-fiver hunting for heels that don’t make you cry by lunch or a city wanderer who needs chic sandals that can handle both rain and rush hour, Sunday Staples might just become your new go-to.
The store is officially open at Pavilion Bukit Jalil, Level 3-64, Pink Zone. Consider this your sign to step into the clouds.
