Kopi, Culture & Cool Vibes: Palm Garden Hotel’s ‘Kopi Dulu Meets Hetam’ Turns Tradition into a Party
Putrajaya isn’t exactly where you’d expect to find a coffee rave—but Palm Garden Hotel just brewed up one. On 25 September 2025, the hotel hosted Brew with Benefits: Kopi Dulu Meets Hetam, an afternoon that stirred nostalgia and modern flair into one unforgettable cup. Think Angklung melodies and DJ beats, kampung brews and coffee cocktails—all in a single caffeine-fueled celebration.
From 2:30 to 5:00 PM, the usually serene Palm Garden Courtyard buzzed with over 50 guests who came for a taste of Malaysia’s past and a sip of its future. The day kicked off with the gentle clinking of the Angklung, an ode to local culture that set the tone for what was to come. But before anyone could get too cozy in the nostalgia, DJ Syabil spun the afternoon into high gear—blending traditional charm with pulsing contemporary rhythms.
Guests were treated to a feast that hit all the right notes of comfort and creativity. Palm Garden’s Kopi Dulu, that familiar kampung-style brew, flowed freely alongside trays of local kuih, cucur udang, and keropok lekor cooked live on-site. Just as the nostalgia started to settle in, the cool kids of Hetam took over, introducing their playful spin on coffee: the “cofftails.” From the zesty Khatulistiwa to the indulgent Gemilang and Saga, each concoction was a caffeine-meets-cocktail masterpiece. Sweet tooths weren’t left out either—special one-day-only treats like coffee jelly with vanilla cream and tiramisu made sure of that.
And if that wasn’t enough temptation, Palm Garden used the event to unveil Courtyard’s new snack menu—a spread that reads like every pastry lover’s dream: éclairs, sardine puffs, banana bars, sausage rolls, and pain au chocolat. It’s a delicious extension of the hotel’s ongoing mission to turn casual coffee sessions into experiences worth dressing up for.
“Kopi has always been more than just a drink—it’s about ritual, connection, and storytelling,” shared Hanson Leong, Hotel Manager of Palm Garden Hotel. “With Kopi Dulu Meets Hetam, we wanted to celebrate Malaysia’s heritage while introducing new expressions of coffee culture to our guests.”
That idea came to life through immersive storytelling, hands-on demos, and live performances. The highlight? A kampung coffee ritual led by the Palm Garden team, followed by Hetam’s cofftail-making session that drew a crowd eager to learn (and sip). The traditional Angklung rhythms, which have now become a Saturday feature at Palm Garden’s Kopi Dulu sessions, intertwined effortlessly with Syabil’s beats—capturing the true “old meets new” spirit.
This caffeine-charged celebration is part of Marriott Bonvoy’s Brew with Benefits campaign, running through the end of the year. Guests who sign up for the Marriott Bonvoy program can earn points—and an extra-large cookie—with every coffee order at Palm Garden’s outlets. Because honestly, who says loyalty can’t be sweet?
With Kopi Dulu Meets Hetam, Palm Garden didn’t just serve coffee—it served connection. It proved that heritage isn’t something you archive; it’s something you remix, reimagine, and sip on slowly.
