Crafted, Curated, Unapologetically Birkenstock at 1 Utama

There’s a new chapter unfolding at 1 Utama, and it’s wrapped in cork, leather, and that unmistakable Birkenstock ease. BIRKENSTOCK Malaysia has reopened its 1 Utama store with a fully revamped concept, the first of its kind in the country, signalling a bold step forward in how the brand wants Malaysians to experience craftsmanship and comfort.

Instead of relying on flashy gimmicks, the new space doubles down on what makes the brand iconic. At its core is the legendary Footbed, the very soul of every BIRKENSTOCK pair. The interior mirrors this philosophy by using natural, sustainable materials like cork, wood, and leather. The result is a space that feels warm, tactile, and rooted in the brand’s long-standing commitment to quality and environmental consciousness.

One of the store’s most striking features sits right at the centre: the Brand Timeline. Displayed on the main pillar, it guides visitors through over 250 years of shoemaking heritage. It’s a visual time capsule that celebrates the craftsmanship and innovation that have shaped Birkenstock into the global name it is today.

Developed by BIRKENSTOCK’s in-house retail design team, the concept represents a shift from the previous design identity that held for five years. The new look honours the brand’s enduring values while introducing a contemporary edge. Think heritage, but elevated. Tradition, but with purpose.

Evelyn Chua, Managing Director of Southeast Asia and Downunder, sums it up perfectly: “With the reopening of our 1 Utama store, we are proud to introduce Malaysia’s newest concept store, a space that encapsulates BIRKENSTOCK’s unique blend of heritage and innovation. Our goal was to create more than just a retail space. We wanted an environment that immerses our customers in the essence of BIRKENSTOCK, right from the craftsmanship, the materials, to the enduring comfort that defines our brand.”

And they didn’t stop at the redesign. To celebrate the reopening, the store rolled out activities that highlighted creativity and self-expression. A live portrait session captured each guest’s personal Birkenstock energy, while a personalisation station invited visitors to customise their sandals. It was a reminder that comfort and style aren’t one-size-fits-all — they’re personal, meaningful, and completely unique to each wearer.

The newest BIRKENSTOCK collections are now available exclusively at birkenstock.com/my, but if you want the full experience — the textures, the story, the evolution — the 1 Utama concept store is where it all comes to life.
