The Power of Grey: New Balance Reclaims the Streets with Grey Days 2025

Forget every preconceived notion you’ve had about neutrals—New Balance is once again flipping the script with Grey Days, its unapologetic month-long tribute to the one shade that’s been holding down the brand’s legacy since the '80s. Cool, unbothered, and effortlessly iconic, Grey isn’t just a colour to New Balance—it’s a state of mind.

Running the entire month of May, Grey Days 2025 is not just a campaign; it’s a full-blown flex. The brand is bringing the heat with a line-up of 21 footwear styles and 11 apparel pieces, from cult favourites to contemporary classics, all dipped in that signature shade. And whether you’re a die-hard sneakerhead or just getting laced up for the first time, there’s one thing you can’t ignore: Grey is the New Balance identity.

Let’s rewind for a second. Grey entered New Balance’s palette in the 1980s—not because it was trendy, but because it made sense. It blended seamlessly with the gritty urban terrain of runners pounding the pavement. As other brands chased bright whites and neon highs, New Balance stuck with Grey, cementing its outsider status and, in the process, creating a legacy of its own. This wasn’t just a design choice—it was a statement of intent.

Fast forward to today, and Grey’s influence hasn’t waned—it’s evolved. Grey Days 2025 proves that this once-understated colour holds endless potential. The lineup includes everything from the all-eyes-on-me 9060s to the cult-favourite 1300JP, which drops once every five years and lands this year with all the quiet confidence of a legend returning home.

“Whether you’re new to the brand or a longtime loyalist, Grey embodies the promise of everything that sets New Balance apart. The symbolism of Grey has remained central to the brand for decades, and Grey Days 2025 showcases its diverse appeal,” says Brian Lynn, Global Vice President of Lifestyle. “By bringing together an array of our athletes and ambassadors to highlight these exclusive styles, we are honouring the versatility and authenticity that is core to both our heritage and our future.”

Let’s talk drops.
May 1 kicked things off with The Grey Shop going live across New Balance stores and online. It features lifestyle, performance, and even kids’ selections—think 740, 9060, 1000, T500, and Fresh Foam X 1080v14—all in glorious Grey.

May 14 saw the arrival of the 1906 Loafer, an unexpected mash-up of laidback formalwear and sneaker DNA. Clean, sharp, and priced at RM669.00, it’s already turning heads.

May 22 brings the ABZORB 2010 and the 471 to the party—two launches grounded in New Balance’s running heritage. The ABZORB 2010 revives 2000s running culture with a progressive edge (RM669.00), while the 471 reimagines a '70s silhouette for modern-day streets (RM449.00).

And then, the mic drop—May 29, the return of the 1300JP. Released once every five years, this is the sneaker world’s equivalent of a total solar eclipse. Priced at RM1,399.00, it’s a collector’s dream and an undeniable grail.
